70 Years have passed since the modern state of Israel was established. On May 14, 1948 (Iyar 5, 5708) David Ben-Gurion who was later to become Israel's first prime-minister, stood and read Israel's declaration of Independence. At that moment, for the first time in thousands of years, Israel was once again a sovereign Jewish nation. Through the miraculous acts of God, the Jewish returned from the nations (and are still coming) to Israel and prevailed over enemies intent on destroying them.
