Troubled times, but also good news in Israel!

Tensions have been increased in Israel with a wave of riots and terror attacks over the last couple of months. Last week, a terrorist injured three Israeli teenagers, two of whom are in critical condition, at Tapuach junction in Judea and Samaria after he drove by and fired 10 shots towards civilians at a bus stop, according to the JPost.

The shooting has led to violence across Judea and Samaria as the Israeli Army (IDF) searches for the terrorist amid Palestinians throwing Molotov cocktails and stones at the soldiers. Also on Sunday, a Palestinian woman approached IDF soldiers at the Gush Etzion Junction with a knife and attempted to stab them before she was neutralized by the soldiers present. In addition, Arabs have been rioting across Israel as they mark the Islamic sacred month of Ramadan.

Tragedy also struck the Jewish community on the festival of Lag B’Omer (The 33rd day between Passover and Shavuot). Tens of thousands of Jews gathered at the grave of the great Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai to celebrate his life. As they left the site, a stampede occurred that left 45 people dead and 150 injured. Our thoughts and deepest prayers are with the victims and their families and friends.

But it's not all bad news in Israel these days. Last week a Knesset committee voted to greenlight a bill that would legalize about 70 outposts in Judea and Samaria, granting them authorization in the near future. This move will greatly strengthen the Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria and is another big step towards full recognition of the right of Jews to live and thrive in their own heartland.
