More About Shavuot

Shavuot (the Feast of Weeks), which follows seven weeks of counting after Passover, is a time of celebrating the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. For Christians, it’s also a celebration of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Shavuot is also the celebration of the wheat harvest and the offering of firstfruits. This is reflected in two more biblical names for the festival: Chag HaKatzir, the “Feast of Harvest,” and Yom HaBikkurim, the “Day of Firstfruits”.
